Niehaus: Senate will wrap up by early June
Senate President Tom Niehaus has outlined his calendar for completing budget negotiations in his chamber, saying that the Senate will pass the budget out of their chamber the first full week of June.

Catching up and the week ahead
Apologies for being away a week, but life got in the way. Thankfully we had a lot of posts this week, thanks to my collaborator. And the week ahead looks busy with more hearings, including statewide elected officials, public testimony and a possible amendment deadline.

This week, we settle into a more leisurely pace of budget activities, relative to last week’s craziness. There are hearings in the Senate Finance Committee on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday. We have the schedule.

Busy, Busy Busy: The Week Ahead
Lots of budget action is about to unfold this week. In fact, this may be the craziest week in budget-watching yet. The House is set to put its final marks on the 2012-2013 state budget. We outline their schedule of activities for the week. Meanwhile, the Senate isn’t waiting around. They are slated to start a flurry of hearings, and we have a complete list of agencies set to testify.

Last Chance to Testify in House Finance
Members of the public or those representing organizations or interests affected by the State Budget have one last opportunity to testify on the proposal before it is sent to the House Floor for a vote. Beginning this Thursday, public hearings will be held on the amended version of the Governor’s budget. If you would like to testify, we have details on what to do.

Budget Press Conference
Finance Committee Chairman Amstutz and Rep Hagan (Christina-R, not Bobby-D) are holding a press conference on Monday morning about the state budget. Hagan isn’t even a member of the Finance Committee. We aren’t sure what they plan to discuss.
