Investor’s Guide to the Budget
I know we’ve talked about this budget as though it’s all gloom and doom with its privatization, layoffs and local tax increases it will generate. But why dwell on the negative, when you too can profit from this budget?

US debt default could mean loss of $40 billion in federal aid to Ohio

Statehouse parking cashiers latest budget victims
The budget makes all 30 employees of the agency that runs and maintains the Statehouse unclassified, meaning they can be fired at will and are no longer protected by a union. In unrelated news, today they announced they are installing new a new automated system in the parking garage that will eliminate the need for cashiers. Oh wait, did I say they were unrelated?

In today’s budget headlines, in addition to the usual litany of job losses and service impacts, we also learn that state funding for a smoking cessation quit-line was eliminated, leaving most callers on their own to find help.
